چکیده

Abstract Background Small thyroid nodules (≤ 10 mm) are common findings in ultrasonography. The first purpose of this study was to compare the performance three guidelines diagnosis malignancy for small nodules. second aim find ultrasonographic characteristics potentially associated with risk malignancy. This prospective cross-sectional performed on patients a mm), who were rereferred radiologists sonography and FNA. Sonographic features recorded scored according American College Radiology-Thyroid Imaging Reporting Data System (ACR-TIRADS), Thyroid Association (ATA-2015), Korean-TIRADS (K-TIRADS). Finally, FNA conducted cytological reported. Results In total, 287 from 256 subjects (64 men 192 women) finally included study. accuracy ACR-TIRADS categories TR5 TR4/5 88.9% 72.1%, respectively. rate ATA-2015 classes high suspicion intermediate suspicion/high 82.6%, For K-TIRADS 5 4/5, diagnostic 89.6% 82.9%, Significant direct associations found between punctate echogenic foci (odds ratio [OR] = 6.46), hypoechogenicity (OR 6.39), ill-defined margin 4.38), irregular 7.33). Conclusion differences strength prediction should be considered by clinicians management smaller than mm.

Thyroid nodule sizes influence the diagnostic performance of TIRADS and ultrasound patterns of 2015 ATA guidelines: a multicenter retrospective study

To evaluate the impact of thyroid nodule sizes on the diagnostic performance of thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TIRADS) and ultrasound patterns of 2015 American Thyroid Association (ATA) guidelines. Total 734 patients with 962 thyroid nodules were recruited in this retrospective study. All nodules were divided into three groups according to the maximal diameter (d < 10 mm, d = 10-20 ...

A Multicenter Prospective Validation Study for the Korean Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System in Patients with Thyroid Nodules

OBJECTIVE To validate a new risk stratification system for thyroid nodules, the Korean Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (K-TIRADS), using a prospective design. MATERIALS AND METHODS From June 2013 to May 2015, 902 thyroid nodules were enrolled from four institutions. The type and predictive value of ultrasonography (US) predictors were analyzed according to the combination of the sol...

Interobserver agreement of various thyroid imaging reporting and data systems

Ultrasonography is the best available tool for the initial work-up of thyroid nodules. Substantial interobserver variability has been documented in the recognition and reporting of some of the lesion characteristics. A number of classification systems have been developed to estimate the likelihood of malignancy: several of them have been endorsed by scientific societies, but their reproducibili...

Value of TIRADS, BSRTC and FNA-BRAFV600E mutation analysis in differentiating high-risk thyroid nodules

The thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TIRADS) and Bethesda system for reporting thyroid cytopathology (BSRTC) have been used for interpretation of ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) results of thyroid nodules. BRAF(V600E) mutation analysis is a molecular tool in diagnosing thyroid carcinoma. Our objective was to compare the diagnostic value of these methods in differ...

Ultrasonographic prevalence and characteristics of non-palpable thyroid incidentalomas in a hospital-based population in a sub-Saharan country

BACKGROUND Thyroid incidentalomas (TI) are highly prevalent asymptomatic thyroid nodules with ultrasound as the best imaging modality for their detection and characterization. Although they are mostly benign, potential for malignancy is up to 10-15%. In sub-Saharan Africa little data exists on the prevalence and risk categorization of TI. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence an...
